Scope of practice

Bridgewell Counseling provides Florida-based telehealth psychotherapy. Active scope includes:

  • Adult individual psychotherapy (anxiety, depression, ADHD, executive functioning, personality disorders, life transitions)
  • Couples therapy and counseling (EFT-informed, behavioral/integrative principles, Gottman-informed tools; recurring conflict, communication, trust repair)
  • Specialty focus: problematic gaming / gaming disorder (ICD-11; DSM-5-TR IGD)
  • Adolescents 12+ when clinically indicated and within scope
  • Clinical supervision for Florida RMHCI (Qualified Supervisor)

Out of scope: imminent-risk crisis stabilization; active psychotic disorders requiring medical oversight; substance-use detox; court-ordered treatment; psychological testing batteries; medication management.

Referral fit

A few brief criteria to help you assess whether a referral is appropriate.

Good fit

  • Stable enough for outpatient weekly or biweekly cadence
  • Florida-located adults or couples
  • Problematic-gaming presentations (with or without comorbidities)
  • Personality disorder presentations needing pattern-focused outpatient work
  • RMHCI seeking weekly group supervision in the Orlando area

Out of scope

  • Active imminent risk requiring crisis stabilization
  • Psychotic disorders requiring medication management or hospital-level care
  • Substance use detox or intensive outpatient (IOP)
  • Court-mandated treatment with documentation requirements I cannot meet
  • Out-of-state clients (Florida licensure only)

Research and scholarship

Active scholarly interests: gaming disorder, internet gaming disorder, behavioral health integration in primary care, and population approaches to behavioral health. Peer-reviewed publication on internet gaming disorder in Computers in Human Behavior (2017). Full list on the publications page.

Open to academic collaborations and student / postdoctoral consultation requests within scope.
